To make a sofa as inexpensive as possible, manufacturers use low quality frames that combine hardwood, pressed wood and plywood stapled together. Light weight foam seats, short depths, and sofas built to the floor. Lightly padded with some areas supported by upholstery cardboard, these sofas are inexpensive. But they soon collapse with normal sitting pressure. They may look good on the outside but on the inside have no substance or support.

The retail price of a sofa is based on many factors besides materials. Shipping increases the price because of warehouse expenses and the high cost of transportation. The retail price may also reflect the large amount of exchange between Canada and the country of manufacture. And if you need service, you’ll have to ship your sofa to the United States, or wherever it was manufactured.
